Project objectives

A single source of truth for the centre's evidence

The Evidence Exchange has no website yet; its only presence is a landing page on deakin.edu.au. The new site has to launch the centre and then carry its research translation work over time.

Objective 1

Establish a credible, distinct presence

A home for the centre that is clearly its own brand, separate from the Deakin master brand, while acknowledging Deakin University and VicHealth as funders on every page.

Objective 2

Speak to very different audiences

Professional and authoritative for government and policymakers, yet approachable and relatable for community members, young people and First Nations peoples.

Objective 3

Make evidence easy to find and share

A searchable, filterable Resource Hub and a News and events feed that LinkedIn, the newsletter and partner networks can always link back to.

Objective 4

Stay self-sufficient after handover

A largely out-of-the-box WordPress build with configurable patterns the team can manage, hosted at Deakin, with minimal ongoing support needed.

About The Evidence Exchange

Our vision

Current and future generations thrive in a world where economic and commercial systems prioritise health, fairness and environmental sustainability.

Our aim

To build a coordinated and collective response to transforming commercial and economic systems so that they support better health and fairness for people and the planet.

⅓
Products of just four industries (tobacco, alcohol, unhealthy food and fossil fuels) contribute to at least a third of global preventable deaths each year. Strategy 2026–2030
Our objectives
  1. Mobilising knowledge into action, in partnership with researchers, policymakers, communities, civil society and values-aligned businesses
  2. Highlighting business practices and models that promote health and equity
  3. Exposing and opposing the systems, practices and pathways through which commercial actors cause harm
  4. Showcasing how economic, commercial and political systems can be designed and governed to rebalance power
  5. Building collective awareness, capacity and capability to act
  6. Embedding Indigenous ways of knowing, and lived and learned expertise
  7. Providing platforms and mechanisms for sustained knowledge exchange and collaboration

  • Credible, citable evidence and policy submissions
  • Fast scanning: summaries before detail

NGOs, community and health organisations, advocacy groups, sector collaborators, researchers and values-aligned businesses.

  • Ways to work and partner with the centre
  • Projects, impact networks and knowledge streams
  • Membership and the member portal

Broader community

Young people, children and families, First Nations peoples and people with lived experience.

What the site will publish

Content is organised around the strategy's focus areas. Each focus area gets its own page built from the general content template, and the same tags drive the Resource Hub filters.

The nine strands

The logo's strand colours give a wide palette so sections can lean more formal or more friendly.

Our approach

Readable, easy-to-update standard blocks for long-form content. Around them, hero sections and calls to action that use the weave motif and intertwined line work, with a set of pre-made variations to pick from. The site feels creative while staying consistent and authoritative, and gives the brand the movement the team asked for.

Project outline

This document. It summarises the pre-flight outcomes and the suggested implementation, and is iterated on until both parties agree on the specifications.

Current step
1.2
Sitemap and template plan

The future-state sitemap above, mapped to the eight templates, so every pattern the team will need later is designed and built now. Content can be released section by section after launch.

1.3
Design
Home page design concept

Pixeld will develop one desktop design concept for the home page. The chosen layout can go through multiple rounds of revision before approval; multiple separate layouts cannot be iterated on.

2.1
Further layout design

Once the home page concept is approved, layouts are developed for the key templates listed in this outline.

2.2
Branding implementation

The Storyfolk brand kit will be followed. Pixeld will bring the weave motif and line work into the site as a set of hero and call-to-action variations, with subtle motion.

Content creation

The Evidence Exchange writes and supplies all copy, video and photography, and enters content into the CMS. Pixeld can quote separately for photography or content support.

6.3
Post-launch changes

New sections, redesigns or new features after launch are a separate project and quote, delivered as a new release to Deakin.

6.4
